Proposal for Kew Gardens, London - 2017

Karl Blossfeldt’s Photographs

The Bells relate to Kew Gardens’ year end festival theme of “Carols & Songs” by taking the various forms of flora in Kew Gardens and visualizing the quiet sound of nature.

KProposed locations for the Bells

The Bells are seen in sequence and the form of the Bells evolves into other variations found throughout the gardens, resonating with their surroundings and resembling the wonderful collection of seed, pods, buds and petals. The elegant shapes and subtle texture of the these elements are expressed in the Bell’s crochet lace surface enveloping the diaphanous volumes. The Bells interact with natural and artificial light, while the pattern’s mathematical repetition brings visual rhythm and harmony.
